SlayerDecision-149M (v1)
A Jev-style System-1 decision model fine-tuned from the 149.33M-parameter
Slayer149-balanced base (runs/white/final, 31.13B pretraining tokens).
What it does
Given a decision payload (state, question, a list of options), the model
returns a distribution over the options — no text generation. It is a
System-1 decision model in the style of JEV / Basal: choose from a set, verify
a statement, or rate on an ordered scale, with calibrated confidence.
Method
Fine-tune of the full 149M base (no LoRA) with the LLM-as-Jev recipe
(arXiv:2610.02076): the prompt ends with the prefill Best answer: [ and each
candidate is scored by the sum of log-probabilities of its bracketed suffix
([k]), softmax-normalized over candidates.
- Tree-factorized listwise cross-entropy along the gold path
- KL anchors (λ=1) against the frozen base: legal-mass Bernoulli at trie nodes and next-token KL at the reply-start position (general LM retention)
- 50% replay of the base's own general-text sources

17,495 training / 2,100 held-out (state-group disjoint). All sources are public (MultiNLI, BoolQ, Banking77, AG News, SST-5) or the repo's own decontaminated ARC-Easy train split plus deterministic synthetic generators.

Per-source (held-out): policy eligibility 97.5%, BoolQ 59.6%, routing 37.1%, SST-5 32.5%, MNLI 31.7%, AG News 28.3%, ARC 22.5%, Banking77 20.4%.
JevBench (Benchmark Heaven, public split)
Measured with the official JevBench scorer
(local_openjev adapter, in-process, on-GPU) on the 231 public decisions
(easy 48, hard 111, original 72; choice/noul/score). 231/231 answered,
0 failures, 100% schema validity.
| Metric | Score |
|---|---|
| Accuracy (raw) | 34.2% (79/231) |
| EASY tier | 29.2% (14/48) |
| HARD tier | 35.1% (39/111) |
| ORIGINAL tier | 36.1% (26/72) |
| Calibration ECE | 0.227 |
| Brier | 0.79 |
| Ordinal MAE | 0.88 |
| Latency p50 (on-GPU, loopback) | 0.061 s |
Context: the board's small open-weights models (≤500M: lev-350m, quyet-1.0-tiny, kev-0.5b, smalljev, laya) score 3–9 Intelligence and 31–44 Capability on the closed 1,500-decision protocol. The public-split numbers above are this model's own measurement, not an official board rank; a full sealed evaluation runs through benchmarkheaven.com/submit.
Size vs capability (Pareto frontier, open-weights board)
At 149.33M parameters the model sits below the Pareto frontier at that size band: verdict-small (118M, Capability 37.6) and watt-flash-0.1 (140M, 41.6) both dominate it on quality. Our ~29 Capability is a public-split estimate (34.2% raw accuracy, ECE 0.227); the official sealed evaluation may differ but is not expected to move the model onto the frontier. Strong points are calibration and latency (0.061 s p50 on-GPU), weak point is raw accuracy (chance-corrected ≈3.6, lowest quartile among sub-500M models).
