ArchieOS images

The system images of ArchieOS: a personal AI that lives inside the operating system, and asks before it touches anything.

Most people want the installer, not these files. Download ArchieOS-Setup.exe from the downloads page or the latest release and run it (no administrator rights): it installs the ArchieOS launcher, which downloads the right image from here, checks its signature and SHA-256, and installs it with the AI model you choose.

File	What it is
ArchieOS-<version>.wsl	The complete system for WSL 2 on Windows: the desktop, Core, the Stage, IRIS, NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 speech recognition and the Piper voices. No AI model is inside: the installer downloads the one the person chooses (archie-local).
ArchieOS-<version>.ova	The VirtualBox appliance (File → Import Appliance).
SHA256SUMS	The SHA-256 of every file of the version.

Each version lives at its own revision of this repository; the signed release manifest pins the exact revision, size and SHA-256 the installer accepts.

What is inside, and under which terms

• ArchieOS itself: Apache-2.0.
• NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 ASR streaming 0.6B: NVIDIA Open Model License.
• Piper voices es_MX-ald-medium and en_US-john-medium, each with its model card beside it in the image.
• IRIS Beta 2.1 weights: non-commercial research use; the licence is at /var/lib/archie/models/iris/LICENSE inside the image.
• Arch Linux packages under their own licences (/package-versions.txt lists them).

No account, key, conversation or personal data is in the images: every installation makes its own identity, package key and database on its first start.
