Poolformer experiments: Retrieval
Overview
This is an experimental Poolformer codebase for Retrieval. It keeps the nano setup intentionally manageable so architecture changes can be inspected before a full training run.
Expect rough edges โ this is a working sketch, not a polished release.
Limitations
- weights are random-init, so outputs carry no signal
- robustness, fairness and domain transfer are untested
- the API may change without notice while the design settles
Repository Status
- The Python file contains the model and runnable example or training entry point.
config.jsonrecords the generated architecture settings.training_args.jsonrecords the default experiment recipe.model.safetensorsis a valid initialization checkpoint for smoke tests; it is not presented as a trained benchmark checkpoint.- No benchmark score is claimed in this repository.
Default Experiment Recipe
The generated recipe uses rmsprop with a exponential schedule.
These values exist so the script runs end-to-end. A meaningful experiment needs its own tuning budget and at least three seeds.
Architecture
- Architecture: Poolformer
- Scale: nano
- Attention: standard
- Fusion: cross attention
- Activation: approx gelu
- Normalization: scalenorm
Training Details
- Weights initialized with a kaiming scheme.
- Runs on a single consumer GPU.
- Full smoke test takes minutes, not hours.
- No distributed setup required.
