Jeffan-31b-1710
A research model built on Gemma-4-31B-it to answer structured decision questions. The input is a state (a document, a conversation, a list of tools, …) and one or more multiple-choice questions about it. The output is a probability for every option, read from a single forward pass; the model generates no text.
Status: first release.
Model
| Base | google/gemma-4-31B-it (Apache 2.0) |
| Weights | bf16; load like the base model (AutoModelForCausalLM, same tokenizer and chat template) |
| Context | inputs up to 8,192 tokens |
Inference
The model reads one question at a time in its own prompt layout (a fixed system line; State:, Question: and
Options: with the codes A, B, …; a closing line) and answers with its next-token distribution over the option
codes. Nothing is generated. Results with other prompt formats may differ.
vLLM
Verified on one NVIDIA B200 with vLLM 0.29.0 in bf16: both examples below build exactly the prompt tokens of the engine
in inference/. On 400 questions of the public Decision Index suite, the Python example chose the
same option as our submitted run wherever that run kept its first read (304 of 304), and the server example agreed with
the Python one on 399 of 400. max_num_batched_tokens=4096 keeps the attention cache small enough for one 96 GB GPU
(checked on a B200 limited to a 96 GB card's memory, not on such a card).

These examples read each question once and take at most 26 options. The Decision Index runs use the engine in
inference/, which also reads a question a second time (the input shown twice) when its top-1 probability is below
0.9, and codes up to 255 options.
Decision Index kit
The exact inference code of our Decision Index runs is in inference/ (Apache 2.0): a kit engine
(dm_decision_engine:DecisionEngine) on vLLM, bf16, with the second read below a top-1 probability of 0.9; settings
max_len=98304 max_batched_tokens=4096 (fits one 96 GB GPU).
pip install -e ./inference # plus vLLM 0.29.0 and the Decision Index kit, see inference/README.md
python -m decision_index pipeline --engine dm_decision_engine:DecisionEngine \

Evaluation: full public suite (Jev Decision Index 0.3)
All 140,178 public requests of the 0.3 edition, HLE included, answered with the Decision Index kit's own sequential runner (one request at a time) and scored with the kit's own scoring code: the same computation as the leaderboard's public score. Served with vLLM in bf16 on one B200. This is our own run, not a leaderboard result; the leaderboard's results follow in the next table.

Leaderboard results (v0.4.1, 21 Oct 2026)
The leaderboard's own results for this model and the nine models ranked below it (text track, 220 models). The Full score is 60% private tests of the same skills and 40% private tasks from new domains, put on one scale; the public score is shown but not counted. The leaderboard measured the latency itself, on one NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000.
