شاشتي تحكي 🇩🇿
The Algerian Screen Commentator
An AI-powered screen commentator that watches your screen in real-time and delivers live commentary in authentic Algerian personality — from wise elders to passionate football pundits.
Inspired by screen-commentator (Cheng Xiaohua's version), rebuilt from scratch as a fully Algerian experience with deeper AI integration, multiple personalities, and dialect switching.
What It Does
شاشتي تحكي ("My Screen Speaks") captures your screen at a configurable interval, sends each frame to Claude's vision AI, and generates commentary in the voice of one of five distinct Algerian characters — delivered as text and optionally spoken aloud via your browser's speech synthesis.
Features

| ⛰️ عمو يحيى من تيزي وزو | Kabyle philosopher — mountain wisdom, Tamazight touches |
| ⚽ معلّق الخضر | Sports commentator — treats everything like an Algeria national team match |

Getting Started
شاشتي تحكي is a single HTML file — no build step, no dependencies, no server required.
Requirements
- A modern browser (Chrome or Edge recommended for screen capture)
- An Anthropic API key with access to
claude-sonnet-4-*
Running It
- Open
shaashti-tahki.htmlin your browser - The app will prompt for screen share permission when you press ابدأ المعلّق
- Select a personality and dialect
- Sit back and let the Hajj comment on your screen
Note: The Anthropic API key is handled by the Claude.ai artifact environment. If running this file independently outside that environment, you will need to add your API key to the
fetch()call headers:headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json', 'x-api-key': 'YOUR_KEY_HERE', 'anthropic-version': '2023-06-01' }
How It Works
Screen Share
│
▼
Canvas frame capture (every N seconds)
│
▼
JPEG base64 encoding
│
▼
Claude Sonnet Vision API
(system prompt = selected personality + dialect)
│
▼
Commentary text → Feed UI + optional TTS
Each personality is a distinct system prompt that shapes Claude's tone, vocabulary, and cultural references. The dialect selector appends an additional instruction to the prompt, steering the language register.
Design
The visual identity is built around the Algerian flag palette:
#006233— Flag green#D21034— Flag red#F5B800— Gold accent#FDF6E3— Warm cream background
Typography uses Scheherazade New for display headings (classical Arabic calligraphy feel), Cairo for UI text, and IBM Plex Mono for metadata and codes.
Background texture is a subtle zellige tile pattern. Corner decorations are hand-coded SVG arabesques.
