SAM 3 — unofficial checkpoint mirror
This repository mirrors Meta's unmodified SAM 3 sam3.pt checkpoint for local
image-segmentation inference. It is maintained by squarefk, not by Meta, and
is not an official release or endorsement. The original authors retain their
rights. This mirror does not relicense the model.

License and permitted use
The weights remain governed by the complete SAM License, last updated November 19, 2025. Section 1(a) grants redistribution rights; section 1(b)(i) requires redistribution under that agreement with a copy of it. This repository includes the unmodified agreement. It is not an MIT or Apache-2.0 relicense.
All original terms apply, including research attribution, privacy, trade controls, and prohibited uses. Do not use the model for the military, warfare, espionage, weapons or other prohibited end uses specified in section 1(b)(v). Public access does not remove these restrictions. Review the full license before use or further redistribution. Model functionality is image segmentation, not image generation.
Usage and updates
Use the checkpoint with the upstream SAM 3 code
and its image processor. The .pt file is the original upstream PyTorch checkpoint,
not a Transformers save_pretrained directory. Do not assume the Hub's generic
Transformers examples apply to this file.
For newer releases, check the upstream announcements and weight history. Compare weight hashes as well as source revisions. This mirror does not update automatically.
