Supernova Catalyst DB

Supernova Catalyst DB is an experimental database project written in Rust.

Current components

• Append-only key-value storage with recovery support
• CRC32-protected record and WAL frames
• Slotted pages and persistent page storage
• Raw, RLE, and dictionary compression
• Compressed blocks and compressed-page indexing
• Write-ahead logging and transaction recovery
• Checkpoint-based WAL replay

Build and test

Install Rust, then run:

cargo fmt --check
cargo test --all-targets
cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings
cargo build --release

Status and limitations

This is an experimental project, not a production-ready database. The WAL/checkpoint design still needs additional crash-injection testing, concurrency controls, and recovery-protocol validation.
