Piper Narration downloads

These archives are what the Piper desktop app downloads when a reader turns on Narration in Settings, AI & Models. Piper verifies every archive against a sha256 compiled into the app before extracting it, and it never loads files from this repository any other way.

What is here

• narration-engine-<platform>-<version>.tar.gz: a relocatable CPython from python-build-standalone with pocket-tts (MIT) and its dependencies. Each bundled package keeps its own license, recorded in its metadata inside the archive.
• narration-model-pocket-tts-<version>.tar.gz: a Hugging Face cache holding kyutai/pocket-tts-without-voice-cloning (CC BY 4.0, by Kyutai) with precomputed embeddings for the commercially usable voices from kyutai/tts-voices (CC0 and CC BY 4.0). No CC BY-NC voice is included.

Use policy

Use of the model must comply with Kyutai's policy: no voice impersonation or cloning without explicit and lawful consent, no misinformation or fraud, and no presenting generated audio as a genuine recording. Piper exposes no voice cloning.
