Jue

Jue (ๅ†ณ) is an open-weight decision model for cybersecurity. You give it a security artefact, such as an alert, a process tree, a log line, a CVE description, an IAM policy, a Kubernetes manifest, a dependency advisory or an AI agent's proposed tool call, together with a few typed questions. It returns a calibrated probability for every possible answer, for all questions in one forward pass, without generating text. It covers security operations and detection engineering, alert triage, threat intelligence and MITRE ATT&CK mapping, vulnerability management (CVE, CWE, CVSS, VEX), cloud and identity security, Kubernetes, DevSecOps and supply chain, compliance, and guardrails for tool-using agents. It is a 2.5B model (MiniCPM5-2B with a LoRA adapter), runs on one GPU or on Apple silicon, reads English and Chinese, and speaks the Jev /v1/systemone protocol.

Its sibling Jue-Flash is a 350M encoder for faster, narrower triage. The technical report (ไธญๆ–‡) covers both. Project page: jue1.dev.

Before relying on it, note that Jue did not meet all of the release criteria set before its final training. It over-abstains on some open-set questions, is under-confident on unfamiliar benchmarks, and is clearly weaker at evaluating a rule completely than at choosing among options. Section 5 has the details.

2. Examples

These fifteen scenarios were written for this card and are not taken from any benchmark. Each was sent to the released model through the included server, and the table shows its actual answers and probabilities, misses included. Jue answers 23 of the 31 questions as intended and gets 8 of the 15 scenarios fully right. The requests are in examples/.

3. Intended use

  • Security operations: ordering triage queues, enriching alerts, checking detection rules, reading process trees and logs, mapping to ATT&CK. Use the scores to route work to analysts, not as final verdicts.
  • Vulnerability and exposure management: CVE to CWE mapping, severity and reachability questions, prioritisation.
  • Cloud, identity and configuration security: whether a policy, role binding, firewall rule or manifest allows an action.
  • DevSecOps and supply chain: dependency, provenance, CI trust and merge questions.
  • Guardrails for AI agents: which tool to call, whether to call one at all, whether a result answers the request, asked by code that runs the agent loop.

It is not meant for free-text generation, autonomous blocking or enforcement, legal advice, offensive security, questions whose answer is not in the state (such as whether a CVE will be exploited), or repository-scale bug finding.

4. Evaluation

Benchmarks were converted to typed questions and answered by argmax over options, so there are no parsing failures. Where the conversion changes the task, the number is marked as not comparable to published leaderboards.

Benchmark Jue Comparable to published
SecQA v1 / v2 .973 / .940 yes
VulDetectBench task 1 / 2 .921 / .864 yes
SECURE CWET / KCV / MAET .741 / .826 / .763 yes
CyberMetric 10000 / 2000 / 500 / 80 .735 / .753 / .760 / .812 yes
CTIBench MCQ .515 yes
CTIBench RCM (CVE to CWE, listed options) .723 no
AthenaBench rcm-open (open CWE, 1,391 ids) .5515 yes
CMMLU computer security .672 yes
SecBench MCQ, Chinese .814 no (subset)
BFCL-v4 irrelevance / live-irrelevance .863 / .724 yes

JevBench public / hard .783 / .577 public items only
SecAlertBench (750 sample) .433 no

On the same items of 131 external tasks, Jue-Flash scores higher than Jue on 14 and ties on 4 (technical report, section 5.2).

5. Limitations

  1. Release criteria: the final training step improved tool-use decisions and newer security domains but met only three of eight criteria fixed beforehand. Jue is the final model of this work, not one that passed every check.
  2. Over-abstention: when an open-set CWE question's candidates include the answer, Jue still answers "none of these" about 28% of the time.
  3. Regressions: Windows security-descriptor (SDDL) access checks and prerequisite API calls, such as an authentication call that must come first, are worse than in the previous model.
  4. Calibration: well calibrated on familiar formats (ECE โ‰ค .02), under-confident on unfamiliar benchmarks by .057 to .068. Read probabilities on new formats as conservative.
  5. Rule execution: yes/no questions that need a rule evaluated completely (reachability, privilege, dependency, merge eligibility) are clearly weaker than choice questions on the same states.
  6. Alert triage: on SecAlertBench Jue calls 354 of 527 benign alerts attacks. Fit a threshold on your own alerts before filtering on it.
  7. Code: repository-level code walking and deep logic-bug finding do not work.
  8. CVSS arithmetic, analyst triage grades and future-exploitation questions stay near the majority class.

6. Bias and risk

Jue reproduces the semantics of public specifications, not your organisation's policy, and a wrong "allowed" can hide an exposure. Use thresholds and send uncertain cases to an analyst or a deterministic checker. It is a defensive model and was not trained to write exploits, payloads, evasion techniques or phishing content.

7. How to use

huggingface-cli download Jue1Dev/jue --local-dir jue
huggingface-cli download openbmb/MiniCPM5-2B --revision 12a3808a956f869c767195e9266b59c4d21d92e2 --local-dir /tmp/jue/minicpm5-2b
cd jue && pip install -r requirements.txt
python serve.py --base /tmp/jue/minicpm5-2b --adapter adapter --calibration calibration.json \
  --dtype float16 --device cuda:0 --model-version jue-1.0.0 --release-date 2026-10-29 --host 127.0.0.1 --port 8000
curl -s http://127.0.0.1:8000/v1/systemone -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d @examples/edr_process_tree.json

The calibration file is bound to a fingerprint that includes the base path used when it was fitted, so keep the base at /tmp/jue/minicpm5-2b. Use --device mps on Apple silicon or --device cpu. Served in fp16 on Apple silicon, the answers match the evaluation run to within 0.0056 in probability, with the same top answer on every question checked.
