The Lattice is a governance-first cognitive architecture for AI — a cognitive constitution: layered (Foundational, Operational, Tactical, Execution), where truth has rules, evidence has classes, drift has consequences, and auditability and operator sovereignty are architectural primitives.
This repo is a read mirror of the canonical substrate, published for discovery by the people building agents. Governed changes happen only in the canonical vault; nothing here is the write surface.

What changed in this refresh (2026-09-29)
REM-002 authority reconciliation, ratified by operator signature:
- Constitution — Article III's seven invariant statements now carry stable identity bindings C-01…C-07. Rule sentences unchanged: identity binding, not new rules.
- Invariants — authority line demoted from "Supreme within the Lattice governance layer" to "Derived structural invariant specification beneath the Lattice Constitution and its ratified constitutional bindings." The six invariant definitions themselves are unchanged.
- Gates, glossary — unchanged this cycle.
Mirror files are byte-exact copies of the canonical files; provenance lives in this README, not in file headers.
The canonical vault carries no license file; this mirror inherits that state rather than choosing terms. Licensing follows the source repository.
