BOAR offline APKs

Android APKs of BOAR, an open-source research assistant that answers on the phone, with sources. The offline APKs carry the models and the library inside, so BOAR never needs the network, not even on first launch. Files too big for a GitHub release (2 GiB per file) live here; the release notes on GitHub link to them.

Which offline APK? For phones with 12 GB of RAM or more, or anyone who wants the best answers and accepts the wait: this Qwen3 4B one. For 8 GB phones: the Qwen3 1.7B one (also on the v2.0.0-rc1 release as boar-2.0.0-rc1-offline-arm64.apk).

On first launch BOAR copies these out of the APK and checks each one against its SHA-256, then works in airplane mode. Tested on a Lab device 8 GB in airplane mode (Oct 22, 2026): install, unpack, and an answer with sources. On 8 GB the 4B is slow (about 30 s before the first word).

Same signing key as every BOAR release: it installs over BOAR 1.x and the rc1 APKs, keeping your models and chats.

Build it yourself

Branch feat/offline-bundle: BOAR_OFFLINE_MODEL=qwen3-4b-instruct-2507-q4km scripts/build-offline-apk.sh release. The script takes the model files from your machine and checks each one against the app's catalog before bundling.
