This simply describes how the Gemma 4 E2B models were merged using Mergekit and will download the files that were used to merge.
This works for Mergekit as of May 6, 2026.
First, a gemma4.json file was created at /usr/local/lib/python3.12/dist-packages/mergekit/_data/architectures/gemma4.json. The file will be added here for downloading.
The second thing I did was modify the common.py file at /usr/local/lib/python3.12/dist-packages/mergekit/common.py. Specifically, I modified the get_config_value function so that it could look inside text_config . The modified version will also be available for download.
Not sure if both steps are needed, but this allows for merging of Gemma 4 E2B, for other Gemma 4 models these files have not been tested.
