Apply for community grant: Academic project
Hello, I am Bryan Mildort, a PharmD/MBA student researcher from Howard University. This space hosts a model that has been finetuned from GPT-J-6B on a summarized clinical notes dataset.
The ground truth is derived from summarized notes/discharge summaries by medical and pharmacy students amidst a doctorate research course. The dataset of notes was extracted from the MIMIC-III corpus and a previous Kaggle clinical notes scoring competition.
We aim to display an effective summarizer for clinical notes that can be implemented into the pipelines of established digital medical systems to streamline and improve patient treatment outcomes. The preliminary inference results from the current model are impressive, and we would want to display them for public usage.
The model crashes out on CPU basic when attempting to load in float16 for inference. If I may be please be awarded a GPU upgrade (A10G large if possible) grant for this demo for advocation to the appropriate research officials at my university for initiative support? This space will also accompany the published paper once completed.
Thank you greatly in advance.
Hello Bryan, this is a cool project, and clinical note summarization is a very nice topic.
We'd just ask you (if not yet there) to make it super clear in the app this is for research purposes only to to the community - but we've granted a GPU to it - it expires with 1h without usage, but you can restart it every time you get back to it
Thank you so much! This is definitely for research purposes only and we hope to promote novel AI advancements in the medical field with this project.
