- 'I have the Quicksand color but in Tundra CrewMax. Love the color... Hides the dirt from the north woods perfectly.'
- "Duplicolor can match the stock paint pretty damn close lol. White is also the easiest most forgiving color to paint. It wouldn't even be noticeable."
- 'I applied Pure on my black Grand Cherokee and the gloss is unbelievable! It was easy to apply and forgiving. Goes on thick and comes off easy.'

- 'YES!! 2016 GMC TERRAIN SLT PAINT CHIPPING ON HOOD!!! My 2016 GMC has paint chipping on hood! Company needs a recall! Yes, car has been under a shelter & only has 60,000 miles! This is clearly a factory defect as per every body shop I went to for an estimate on repainting hood! Any advice???'
- 'That bottom portion comes with the rough looking paint from the factory (at least it’s like that on mine… 98 model)'
- "Heck ya!!! Plus hyundai's paint isnt the best so gotta keep it chip and swirl free ;)"

- 'Saw this same color in the Stealership 2 days ago. Hate the paint. Dull, hideous color. And the vehicle looks like a soundbar shipping carton. Inside? Magnificent. It’s the exterior that has me saying, “No Effing Way!”'
- 'Love both vehicles dearly and I plan to keep as long as I can, however 1997 4Runner - 128k miles - Absolutely terrible, and I mean awful, acceleration and power, coupled with terrible fuel economy (11-15 mpgs). - paint is super dull and fading Other than that, I am truly struggling to find any other gripes or concerns tbh. For the other car, 2017 Honda Civic Ex-T - 70k miles - I absolutely HATE CVTs! they are the most boring transmissions and make the driving experience very bland and lack luster, especially when you do hard acceleration. - has terrible/low quality weather stripping across the windows and doors.'
- 'remarkable1967 said: I had said my next car would be white due to the fact that my current Kia Sportage is black which is a pain in the arse to keep looking nice. The paintwork constantly looks swirly and dull. Click to expand...'

- 'I’ve been told the clearcoat on these new vehicles is just very very soft. I used to have a black truck decided to try something different that I wouldn’t see many flaws till I seen all the swirls. Ive never had a coated vehicle I’m still in shock how well it works I haven’t had it long haven’t even done a first wash.'
- "I can't upvote if you drove it through an automatic car wash. Those things are clearcoat killers."
- "This is not worth respraying. Mine came with dust particles under the clearcoat, that's a bigger problem IMO and it's annoying. I'm going to report it for record keeping but I won't bother pushing for a fix at this time."

- 'The paint on my 2021 is atomically thin and my biggest gripe with the trucks. Is the 2022’s any better?'
- 'honda and hyundai have really thin paint my veloster front bumper looks like the moon'
- "I have heard that 4Runner's have thin paint. Is taking my 2022 through a contact car wash weekly a good idea? Monthly?"

- 'Thanks! It cost about $300 total. Same reason we repainted it… had too much cracked paint on the hood.'
- "yeahhh, it's because of the paint they used in these models, not very friendly against environment. basically the clear coat will keep on cracking and exposing the paint below, which is not that resistant. that's also why I'm thinking about that vinyl thing. where I am it's like arooound $400(europe) or less, and that's a great advantage if you ask me except if someone wants to key it"
- '2020 Ram 1500 with 59k miles. It had cracked paint near the antenna so I swapped it for a short antenna since I think the long antenna was causing the panel to flex. About 2 months ago we had a hail storm in north Texas which resulted in several spots of cracked paint and a few that are starting to rust. I am tempted to keep the insurance payment, pay off the truck and do some DIY repairs (hood swap, pdr, etc). How can I repair the paint or at least stop the rust?'

- 'No, the Sienna is nice but not nearly a 60k car. It should honestly be 35-50k at most. The ride is ok not great, road noise is kind of loud, interior material quality is pretty mediocre as well. I was looking at the paint on a few and it had pretty obvious orange peel and the silver had pretty bad zebra striping.'
- "I also own a 24 CRV. I don't have any paint issues, but I know what you mean about orange peel texture on the paint. I saw it on a primer gray civic type r in the showroom. If you go over to r/Honda, the orange peel on paint has been talked about on a few occasions . It is more prevalent in some of the colors."
- "Also came to the conclusion hyundai paint sucks lol it's brittle and thin, and I have orange peel on a few spots on a brand new car, like I say, nothing is perfect"

- "VW's underside are mostly galvanized, so no rust. They also have a protective rubbery coating sprayed on to most of it. Dealer added rust proofing is a total scam on a VW. If the dealer is trying to push you on it, crawl under the vehicle to inspect and see for yourself. What you see is factory, no coatings have been applied."
- 'I figured I’d offer up here, I’d like to see this go to a good home. I have up on marketplace for 800, but I’d take 500 bucks from anyone here. Red first gen, paint is fading and flaking, but there’s no rust. I’m the second owner. Had this car for 10 years.'
- 'My 1996 2.3 5 speed has 350,000 miles got it from Florida drove it back to Ohio years ago had 150,000 miles then. Replaced the clutch once nothing but standard maintenance since. Mine still has no rust but I take preventative measures each winter. Your paint still looks amazing.'

- 'Different materials and front/rear covers aren’t painted together with the body panels. Causes a panel to panel mismatch.'
- 'You can probably request that they drill the holes for the parking sensors and install to the new bumper I know a lot of companies do this but you’ll be faced with the issue of mismatched paint on the sensors.'
- 'Idk man if my vehicle was black prior I want it black fixed. You don’t get to choose that as the mechanic/shop. Mismatched paint will lower your resale and trade in value. I’d take it back'

- "Never buy white. It isn't limited to Hyundai, though they seem to be the worst. That is great the dealer will touch the paint up at all though."
- "I took my 2013 Corolla in for peeling paint before the warranty expired and they didn't submit pictures until after it expired."
- 'I wish someone would take another crack at @Hyundai - or even the auto paint manufacturer - for their peeling paint defects on Hyundai, Kia (and even Toyota) models. I’m still amazed how the first lawsuit failed to certify…'

- "What I've heard about Ford's spray in process is that they start with a fully painted surface and add some kind of binding agent, so the factory spray in is sort of glued on to the bed. There wouldn't be bare metal. Because of that, it seems like the rust spots would have to be stains from rail dust. My next test would be to spray a little CLR or maybe even naval jelly on some spots, let it work, then hose it off and see if you get down to bedliner or paint underneath."
- 'Rail dust (metal flakes) rusting. Clay bar will get it out. Brake dust can do same thing. Clay bar truck. Wash truck often after. It’s not rock chips since there is no indent in clear coat. The rust spots are on top of clear coat, not below clear coat.'
- "This is little iron particles from the environment that get stuck in the paint and eventually rust. Sometimes it's called iron fall out or rail dust. It's not an issue with your paint and it happens to all cars it's just easier to see with white paint. Can be removed with a liquid iron remover solution or by clay bar. These are common with car detailing. You can ask a local car detailer more."

- 'And the paint looks like it’s in really good condition too.'
- 'I agree, the paint is in really good condition which tells me the car was taken care of and not beaten up.'
- 'Smooth! Your paint is in great condition!'

- 'White does have the benefit of hiding swirls a little easier.'
- "I've honestly contemplated wrapping my car so that I can go through the local contact car wash without worrying about swirl marks on my black car... I 100% regret the color of my car but it was the one that was available in hatchback and 6MT within 2 hours drive."
- '1500 is a bit high, but it depends on car color/paint quality and how much paint correcting has to be done. A black car may take a lot of work to remove all the swirls and make it perfect before applying the ceramic.'

- "That's the paint's clearcoat fading away. Happens with that Gen of Civic. There is a recall for this issue. Check on Honda's website to see if your Civic qualifies."
- 'And early aughts Hyundai sparkle paint started fading and peeling on the way home from the dealership.'
- "My Prius' faded black paint no longer fits my professional lifestyle, so I got it repainted in a nice light gray that looks classier."

- "When I bought my Indian I liked the matte option, but the service guy told me the same about the matte: if you scratch it or ding it, you can't match it, and trying to buff it may actually polish it towards a gloss in that spot."
- "Today, by mistake, I scratched my friend's new Tundra 2023. I feel terrible about it and I have, for hours, being looking online for the best remedy to render the car like pristine."
- 'Hey, check out the detailed write up I posted last week and a few things I added to my Telluride. One thing I highly recommend is a rear bumper protector. It keeps from scratching things up on the top of your rear bumper when loading/unloading things in the cargo area. Most SUV’s include them, and I was upset when I saw the Telluride didn’t, as its inevitable you will scratch the rear bumper. I think it also makes the bumper look better.'

- 'A good wax or ceramic coating will make it easier in the future to remove the bugs if it’s common in your area'
- "I'm pretty sure it was a heavy bug strike, thing is I am not 100% that PPF can protect against something with some mass to it. Still a bit worried since the area is massive with some concavity to it which means the strikes may be a bit harder on impact."
- "PPF will help, but i still think it can happen with a heavy impact. Like a heavy bug or rock. The plastic didn't chip or have any abrasions. A leather bra would be the best protection but very ugly. I'll try PPF after i get this fixed or replaced."

- 'Ok, if you want it to look good for about a year, use a headlight restore kit. If you want it to look brand new for 5-10 years, use 1000 grit sandpaper to get rid of the surface oxidation, wash them off, then spray 2k clear over it. Super easy and has great results.'
- 'Aluminum "rusts", it's just called oxidation, and it turns to silver colored powder. Also, I'd never buy a moon roof unless i garage kept my truck. The seals go bad.'
- 'Would the oxidation just be on the surface of the clear coat or also deep into the color coat?'

- 'After having our beautiful car for a month’ish a piece of plastic flew off a construction site and hit the side of the driver door. No dents and it looks like it’s a bad scuff mark. Anyone know if it’s possible to take care of on my own or should I bring to body shop?'
- 'It looks like a scuff on the clear coat. Meguires Ultimate polish and a microfiber towel should do it.'
- "How badly is it scratched? If it's light scuffing you might as well leave it if you're gonna sell it, nobody is gonna look at it."

- 'Hi all, I have a 2016 Honda Fit that I recently picked up for Winter Duties. Currently the car has white metallic paint, and it’s notorious for paint chipping due to Honda QC. Certain areas have light chipping, and the rest has minor dents and imperfections all over the car.'
- 'Toyota does have a weak paint in my opinion. I have several chips in my hood.'
- 'My Lexus Rx has sh*t paint like that too. It chips so easily.'

- "I've purchased and applied myself, ceramic coatings to the paint of a variety of vehicles. Expect to pay between $1000-1500 for a good quality, long lasting exterior ceramic coating. And a quality shop will have a vehicle the size of a Wagoneer a couple of days. Good luck"
- 'Will it be highway driven ? Garage kept ? Ceramic coat makes car washes easier but it’s $1000+ and wears down in a couple years.. like a long lasting car wax. Film is good to protect from rock chips if u drive highways often… but is a few rock chips worth $1000+ film ?'
- 'Ceramic coatings are more like a really long lasting wax. It can help minor micro scratches and keep dirt from sticking to the paint. It makes washes really easy. PPF is like a self healing screen protector for your car. I have my C8 Corvette fully wrapped with XPEL Ultimate and would do it again in a heart beat. Scratches can come out with hot water or even the suns heat. Rock chips go into the PPF and not the paint. These are two different products and people often do both. PPF first for protection and the Cermaic for a coating at the end to make washes a breeze. If you want to protect your paint, the only real option is PPF. When my Civic gets built, I’ll probably do PPF on high impact areas like the hood and front bumper.'

- 'Washing the jeep today and drying the top of the hardtop I noticed it looks wavy in spots , almost looks like small creases or dents. Paint looks fine, is this just how fiberglass can look ? Anyone else notice this?'
- "I had a 2002 Sedona, already disappoint with dealer and regional manager 2 years after i bought and the paint is rough and fading, after regional manager inspection decided it's my fault that I over spray it, I already gave up on kia, and kia dealer mostly disappear, after many years I own a 2017 Elantra limited with tech, the only reason is the price, Corolla and civic will cost me 5k more in entry level compare to my Elantra, and I paid 10.5k lower than MSRP, several small problem that I can fix myself , like 6x hose clamp, heater hoses, belt, brake and 2x coil, change oil myself, still ok after 110k mi, but my 2011 accord really has no problem at all. I know kia Hyundai is so hot now, but imo, I won't touch kia and Hyundai unless I save a lot compare to Toyota Honda or Mazda, and if I go out of town I will use my accord rather than Elantra cos I don't know when will be other clamps fail."
- 'Thats paint peel, not a paint chip. Looks like an adherence issue that could have been caused by the chip guard “ripple” that is under the paint….perhaps not 100% cured when paint went on. I’d call that warranty all day long.'

- 'I like the colour. Needs more depth so it can be sanded out properly so it will take a buff as is. Or, if you’re not planning to add any more paint, wax polish and a low speed buff. The wax will smooth out the porosity of the paint, give the light something to bounce off of.'
- "I used Adam's advanced graphene ceramic coat. It's billed as 10H and 9+ year durability. The kit was $140 on Amazon and i barely used a quarter of it. The paint feels smooth like glass. It's crazy."
- 'Got the truck all cleaned and coated it with CSL topped with ExoV5. The paint is extremely smooth to the touch. I tested a section and rubbed my fingernail along the paint. It still left a little scratch mark that I couldn’t get out with a towel. I’m not sure how this ceramic coat is rated against scratch marks, but the paint itself is glossy as can be, and smooth as can be. I guess we will see how it goes against scratches and swirls.'

- 'Nice I painted mine glossy black but only because I couldn’t stand the weathered white grey any more. It’s amazing how big a difference painting the flares does for the jeep'
- 'That paint looks so glossy. Got any coating on it?'
- "The CF one probably has some sort of clear coat-like protective finish on it that might explain why it looks a git glossy, whereas--at least to my eyes--the gray wood-grain finish one I went with doesn't have the same glossy finish to it."
|

- 'Would have been some protection. After taking the ppf off some good buffing and detailing buddy would be back on the road. Dont underestimate the ppf, its waaay more durable than a wrap'
- 'It’s really thin water based paint. Oil based paint is more durable.'
- 'Hyundai puts a second coat of white paint on the car to make it more durable, hence the extra cost.'

- "Ceramic coating works really well. Not saying it won't chip but it doesn't look nothing like that and I have over a hundred thousand miles on mine. Well worth the money looks great also"
- '2021 Dodge Ram 1500 would love a ceramic coating to preserve my paint on my truck and keep it nice and shiny and looking new.'
- 'If you want something truly practical, I’d suggest a ceramic coating. It will protect your paint from rock chips and whatnot. Maybe not the most exciting purchase, but you’ll be happy about it in a few years.'
|

- 'Yes car wash every week and a good polish to make it shiny :) My BMW was frozen grey and it’s already booked for a full front end PPF. Xpel stealth.'
- 'I have considered the OD green, and if I was going to raptor coat it I definitely would, but I would like to keep it sort of shiny.'
- 'Get a ceramic coat, it will help in many ways, keeps the car looking clean & shiny longer and much easier to clean and dry. It will also help protect you from swirls that you get from micro abrasions when washing.'

- 'Garage kept 2022 4Runner gets rust spots on every square foot of every exterior panel, roof and door jams. Anyone have any experience with this on the later Toyota models? Bad paint chemistry? Or normal expectation for any silver car? I’ve seen this where a vehicle was stored near a high traffic train area and the small metal fragments from the wheels/rails were embedding on the exterior paint. Because it hadn’t fully gone through the clear coat it was easily fixed.'
- "And the paint issues begin 😔 2020 with 45k miles. I didn't try to absolve myself as I clearly stated I replaced the windshield and spend time at the beach. A lot of the rust spots look like blisters on top of the paint, not chips. Possibly iron embedded in the paint [from my environment]. Yes, not Toyota' fault but the lack of clear coat doesn't help. Super white is more prone to rust/chips/peeling because of the lack of clear. Or maybe it's just shitty paint in general. (But I know it's my fault for choosing super white)"
- 'I’d assume some type of factory defect. Was built on 1/10. Either or sat or all the fords will have rust issues.'

- 'Great vid.. Merry Christmas black is a Biotch of a color.. my wife has a gray Jeep.. I swear a car wash makes it look new again lol.. I have a black car, and green truck, both show everything..'
- 'This is the way to go! I applied a ceramic coating to all plastic parts and it looks new!'
- 'I have PPF on my front bumper, front fenders, and mirrors. I’m glad I have it, but I understand it’s somewhat temporary. I’ve found nicks from rocks that sort of self heal after a few days. It’s great and looks new 1 year later. Is it an investment? Not really. The one I have is warrantied against yellowing for 3 years.'

- 'It was under the manufacturer paint warranty, it was bubbling and flaking off. It just so happened to be more cost effective to just replace the bumper instead of repaint at a local shop.'
- 'Hello, I’m having same issues on my Santa Fe, hood and door, the paint is bubbling and peeling off in shreds! I called Corp. got a case number took it to the dealer today and within an hour dealer called, my car was ready and my claim was denied, because it’s out of warranty, which I already knew, that is why I called Corp! I am not sure where to turn next, I will be calling Corp. again but not sure if it will do any good. The dealer recommended a cheap paint shop and basically told me “Well it will last about 5 yrs then u can sell it and let it be someone else’s problem” I truly can’t believe Hyundai will not stand behind this.'
- "Yeah positive. I understand why you are saying that but in person it's clear the factory paint is bubbling."

- "You're going to end up denting/scratching this car as you learn. Get something reliable, practical, and most importantly used, as your first car. Standard recommendations: Toyota Corolla, Scion tC, Honda Civic, Ford Focus (avoid 2012+ automatics. Manuals are fine), and Mazda 3."
- "Um owner of a 67 camaro, and the way I fixed it was to paint my stripes on. It's a common thing done with vintage chevys. It will cost you a little but it's as reliable as your topcoat. They should have stencil kits. Note I paint cars, so this is not something that can be done out in your driveway if you want it done correctly. The surfaces that have stripes will need to be prepped for paint, the rest of the car will need to be masked off. Once painted and the hood have been cleared, you can water sand to knock the edge off and shoot a final few coats of clear. This will give you stripes with no edge and no fade. Google it, should be able to find images. Probably could get your hood and trunk done for maybe 1500."

- 'Hey Scotty, I got a question, I got a 93 Ford ranger for my first car, the body outside of some dents and fading clear coat is good, frame has no rust, and the engine only needs lines, but with that the entire floor pan is rusted out, what’s your opinion. I did pay 1800 for it, v6 auto with 4x4 and extended bed, was it a good buy'
- 'Hey y’all So I just bought a 1991 f150 xlt lariat with the 351w for $5200(good/bad deal?). It’s got around 250k miles but was taken really good care of; no rust, original paint, no major leaks, shifts smooth, good power.'
