output license

What should be the generated music license? I believe that this a.i. was trained on open sourced material so all the creation should be c.c. But are we able to use it?

Thank you!

The model card says the code is MIT licensed but the weights are Non Commercial, so the output generated by this model I guess can't be used for commercial purposes?

Well, that’s a letdown. I was looking forward to using the stuff I generate in my own music.

Edit: No, wait…

so what does this mean can we or can we not use it for commercial purposes?

im not seeing anything in the model cards for audiocraft that say no commercial use https://github.com/facebookresearch/audiocraft/blob/main/model_cards/MUSICGEN_MODEL_CARD.md

nm found it https://github.com/facebookresearch/audiocraft/issues/198 no go. no commercial use.

im assuming if you trained your own model you should be good tho since everything other than the weights is under an MIT license , however i am not a lawyer so dont take that as legal advice

F*** this

I should have known better than to be excited for something coming from Facebook.

The model weights are licensed as CC-BY-NC 4.0 (NC = non-commercial), so it cannot be used commercially

Welp, I take back everything good I ever said about AudioCraft.
