Expedite the mirror. Or something else. Do ANYTHING.

This site needs a "only verified users can use this model" thing because the traffic and constant, tiring clicking is driving me INSANE. It is nuts how the site seems to have ignored this incredibly obvious, apparent, and definitely-not-going-away-anytime-soon problem for so long. FIX IT OR MAKE A MIRROR.

I tried to contact the maker guy on Discord,
Seems he is satisfied with his attention-catching toy and refuse to make any change now.
He surely will ignore you imbeciles yelling 'Why there's too much traffic' here.

Why don't you do it yourself??

A queue system might be more adequate, or possibly restricting to people with an account.

Otherwise, we can just wait until it has less traffic.

That is the most braindead thing I have ever heard. Jesus Christ, how can you be THAT insulated as a creator?

Why don't you do it yourself??

How the hell am I supposed to do that? I can barely even run a Python script.

"Why don't you do it yourself??"

I CAN run a Python script and it's still not that easy. The best we can do is get rid of that awful JS alert popup and add a timeout instead. The creator would have to spin up a server to handle a queue (most ideal) or restrict to accounts only. Not something outside developers can submit a PR for.

Can’t they just move to replicate.com where it’s queue on standard?

If you don't know how to do any of this, maybe don't be obnoxious to the maintainers who are volunteering to do this thing that went viral overnight

DALLE mini org

I tried to contact the maker guy on Discord,

lol I'm the maker guy and nobody has contacted me.

We're working as hard as possible to allow more users.
We've been increasing capacity daily but it's hard to keep up with traffic.

Remember that we're just ML researchers and offering access to a model for free.
We're learning on the fly how to deal with such a high demand.

The code to run the model is available on the Github repo so any developer can look at it.

is the code to run the gradio open source as well?

DALLE mini org

It's on the Github but to run a server there are other projects from the community linked in my repo that build a full app

I really hope you're a young teenager or something. This is an unbelievably rude thing to say about a small team of researchers trying their best to keep this thing up and running. I get that it's frustrating to deal with high server loads, but please remember the human behind the screen. It's frankly embarrassing to behave like this in a public forum.

Personally I think it's wonderful what boris and the team have made and I hope they figure out a solution. But until then, I can live with the nuisance. It's not life or death at the end of the day.

This gives me an idea for a prompt... "Illustration of a basement-bound, self-important, pseudo-intellectual, socially rejected boney little king of nowhere, angrily smashing a keyboard to deliver insults at anyone and anything external of itself, always blaming everything and everyone around it for FAILING (all-caps) to soothe the ever-mounting lonilness and misery it feels internally. In the style of a stereotypically neotenized Millenial who's never experienced any real problems in life."

I agree with @rollerska8er , and I've been facing similar vitriol on the forums for the game 4D Miner. That has a known younger demographic (curious minecraft players) so it may explain the social impedance mismatch, and is otherwise similar on the "volunteer creator makes thing that is sufficiently impressive that it becomes virally popular, now folks come out of the woodwork to greedy enough to both beg and choose simultaneously" front.

"Must have a free account to run the script" may help with load issues, and I don't think that would impose too bad of a burden on users.

Alternately, maybe even a captcha? For all we know a lot of the viral volume is coming from bots who have been sicked upon the service. :o

@FunkyIchor description is too long, so Dall*E returns with an image of a rabbit with a pancake on its head. :)

I have been severely humbled by this thread. I made the post out of anger at slow wait times and now realize how braindead I myself looked making them. I apologize profusely and will take care not to be such an asshat in the future

I did just that https://imgur.com/a/0qGf20c

@correcthorsebatterystaple you have apologised to Boria and the community and have fully redeemed yourself. You exhibit self-awareness and intelligence plasticity. May your (continuous:) button pushing be fruitful.

Talk about entitlement, this project is free for you to test, devs don’t owe you crap. You’re not even their client, you’re just some random person who is using a piece of software that is already being shared for free.

Anyway, good to see that person realize they were wrong.

So if I fork this and send a request (haven’t looked at the docu yet) to it through the HF api, does it use a model in hf or does the code send a request that uses your bandwidth from a main model hosted by you/a third party?

I ask this because I wanna write a script to be able to use it despite the traffic and ddns protection, so if the answer is yes then I’ll dedicate the proper time to read the docu:)
