This is a nice start!
I think after users select their preference, we could just pop a message that your preference has been saved (along with the location if possible).
I know @hysts was working on something similar and might have additional design (functional) level feedback.

Yes definitely a good idea to pop a message that choices have been saved somewhere! Think the discussion is not exactly related no? Would be more than happy about some design/functional feedback from @hysts :-)
