+ ## Description
43
+
44
+ This repo contains AWQ model files for [Code Llama's CodeLlama 70B](https://huggingface.co/codellama/CodeLlama-70b-hf).
45
+
46
+ These files were quantised using hardware kindly provided by [Massed Compute](https://massedcompute.com/).
47
+
48
+
49
+ ### About AWQ
50
+
51
+ AWQ is an efficient, accurate and blazing-fast low-bit weight quantization method, currently supporting 4-bit quantization. Compared to GPTQ, it offers faster Transformers-based inference with equivalent or better quality compared to the most commonly used GPTQ settings.
52
+
53
+ AWQ models are currently supported on Linux and Windows, with NVidia GPUs only. macOS users: please use GGUF models instead.
54
+
55
+ It is supported by:
56
+
57
+ - [Text Generation Webui](https://github.com/oobabooga/text-generation-webui) - using Loader: AutoAWQ
58
+ - [vLLM](https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm) - version 0.2.2 or later for support for all model types.
59
+ - [Hugging Face Text Generation Inference (TGI)](https://github.com/huggingface/text-generation-inference)
60
+ - [Transformers](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers) version 4.35.0 and later, from any code or client that supports Transformers
61
+ - [AutoAWQ](https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ) - for use from Python code

86
+
87
+ I currently release 128g GEMM models only. The addition of group_size 32 models, and GEMV kernel models, is being actively considered.
88
+
89
+ Models are released as sharded safetensors files.

+ ## Multi-user inference server: vLLM
118
+
119
+ Documentation on installing and using vLLM [can be found here](https://vllm.readthedocs.io/en/latest/).
120
+
121
+ - Please ensure you are using vLLM version 0.2 or later.
122
+ - When using vLLM as a server, pass the `--quantization awq` parameter.
123
+
124
+ For example:
125
+
126
+ ```shell
127
+ python3 -m vllm.entrypoints.api_server --model TheBloke/CodeLlama-70B-hf-AWQ --quantization awq --dtype auto
128
+ ```
129
+
130
+ - When using vLLM from Python code, again set `quantization=awq`.
131
+
132
+ For example:
133
+
134
+ ```python
135
+ from vllm import LLM, SamplingParams
136
+
137
+ prompts = [
138
+ "Tell me about AI",
139
+ "Write a story about llamas",
140
+ "What is 291 - 150?",
141
+ "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?",
142
+ ]
143
+ prompt_template=f'''{prompt}
144
+ '''
145
+
146
+ prompts = [prompt_template.format(prompt=prompt) for prompt in prompts]
147
+
148
+ sampling_params = SamplingParams(temperature=0.8, top_p=0.95)
149
+
150
+ llm = LLM(model="TheBloke/CodeLlama-70B-hf-AWQ", quantization="awq", dtype="auto")
151
+
152
+ outputs = llm.generate(prompts, sampling_params)
153
+
154
+ # Print the outputs.
155
+ for output in outputs:
156
+ prompt = output.prompt
157
+ generated_text = output.outputs[0].text
158
+ print(f"Prompt: {prompt!r}, Generated text: {generated_text!r}")
159

202
+ ## Inference from Python code using Transformers
203
+
204
+ ### Install the necessary packages
205
+
206
+ - Requires: [Transformers](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers) 4.35.0 or later.
207
+ - Requires: [AutoAWQ](https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ) 0.1.6 or later.
208
+
209
+ ```shell
210
+ pip3 install --upgrade "autoawq>=0.1.6" "transformers>=4.35.0"
211
+ ```
212
+
213
+ Note that if you are using PyTorch 2.0.1, the above AutoAWQ command will automatically upgrade you to PyTorch 2.1.0.
214
+
215
+ If you are using CUDA 11.8 and wish to continue using PyTorch 2.0.1, instead run this command:
216
+
217
+ ```shell
218
+ pip3 install https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ/releases/download/v0.1.6/autoawq-0.1.6+cu118-cp310-cp310-linux_x86_64.whl
219
+ ```
220
+
221
+ If you have problems installing [AutoAWQ](https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ) using the pre-built wheels, install it from source instead:
222
+
223
+ ```shell
224
+ pip3 uninstall -y autoawq
225
+ git clone https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ
226
+ cd AutoAWQ
227
+ pip3 install .
228
+ ```
229
+
230
+ ### Transformers example code (requires Transformers 4.35.0 and later)
231
+
232

378
+
379
+ **Variations** Code Llama comes in four model sizes, and three variants:
380
+
381
+ * Code Llama: base models designed for general code synthesis and understanding
382
+ * Code Llama - Python: designed specifically for Python
383
+ * Code Llama - Instruct: for instruction following and safer deployment
384
+
385
+ All variants are available in sizes of 7B, 13B, 34B, and 70B parameters.
386
+
387
+ **This repository contains the base version of the 70B parameters model.**
388
+
389
+ **Input** Models input text only.
390
+
391
+ **Output** Models generate text only.
392
+
393
+ **Model Architecture** Code Llama is an auto-regressive language model that uses an optimized transformer architecture. It was fine-tuned with up to 16k tokens and supports up to 100k tokens at inference time.
394
+
395
+ **Model Dates** Code Llama and its variants have been trained between January 2023 and January 2024.
396
+
397
+ **Status** This is a static model trained on an offline dataset. Future versions of Code Llama - Instruct will be released as we improve model safety with community feedback.

403
+ ## Intended Use
404
+ **Intended Use Cases** Code Llama and its variants are intended for commercial and research use in English and relevant programming languages. The base model Code Llama can be adapted for a variety of code synthesis and understanding tasks, Code Llama - Python is designed specifically to handle the Python programming language, and Code Llama - Instruct is intended to be safer to use for code assistant and generation applications.
405
+
406
+ **Out-of-Scope Uses** Use in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations (including trade compliance laws). Use in languages other than English. Use in any other way that is prohibited by the Acceptable Use Policy and Licensing Agreement for Code Llama and its variants.
407
+
408
+ ## Hardware and Software
409
+ **Training Factors** We used custom training libraries. The training and fine-tuning of the released models have been performed Meta’s Research Super Cluster.
410
+
411
+ **Carbon Footprint** In aggregate, training all 12 Code Llama models required 1400K GPU hours of computation on hardware of type A100-80GB (TDP of 350-400W). Estimated total emissions were 228.55 tCO2eq, 100% of which were offset by Meta’s sustainability program.

415
+
416
+ See evaluations for the main models and detailed ablations in Section 3 and safety evaluations in Section 4 of the research paper.
417
+
418
+ ## Ethical Considerations and Limitations
419
+
420
+ Code Llama and its variants are a new technology that carries risks with use. Testing conducted to date has been in English, and has not covered, nor could it cover all scenarios. For these reasons, as with all LLMs, Code Llama’s potential outputs cannot be predicted in advance, and the model may in some instances produce inaccurate or objectionable responses to user prompts. Therefore, before deploying any applications of Code Llama, developers should perform safety testing and tuning tailored to their specific applications of the model.
