My name is …….. I am a freshman/sophomore at University of ……., and I am very excited to be in this class. I am originally from………, but I have lived in a few different places. I have always been interested in learning new things and I hope to do well in your class. It's quite easy to talk to or hang out with me. I'm shy even though I'm highly gregarious, which is one of the reasons I haven't gone on a solo trip. I adore traveling, and visiting Indonesia is one of my ideal vacation destinations, but the cost is exorbitant! Though I hope to overcome that hurdle soon. I’d like to share and tell you about my favorite song and why I like it.

I've always considered music to be a big part of my life, and I frequently sought comfort in various songs. One song stands out among the rest as my favorite, and I frequently find myself returning to it again and time again. My favorite song is When you Believe by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. For those who may not know about the song, it was written by Stephen Schwartz as a soundtrack for the Dreamworks animated movie The Prince of Egypt, released in 1998 (Songfacts). Mariah Carey originally recorded the song as a solo, but Whitney Houston joined her to record a duet for the movie's soundtrack.

I love the song because it emphasizes the importance of hope and belief in yourself and relentless optimism. Personally, I believe that regardless of religious orientation or even lack thereof, hope and faith are important for us to achieve great things. The lyrics also stress the value of maintaining optimism and self-belief in the face of challenges. The song's chorus stands out as particularly memorable and memorable. Let’s also not forget the song is performed by two of music’s most powerful vocalists in Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. We’re talking Hall of Famers! Whitney stamps her authority in the song with her soulful and emotive voice while Mariah takes it to another level with her ethereal and angelic talents.

The song may have been released way before I was born, but the moment I heard it, I fell in love with it. One of the earliest memories I have of listening to the song was during a time when I was much younger and my family was going through an especially difficult period and I went on YouTube to distract myself. As I scrolled through clips of animated videos I came across a scene from The Prince of Egypt in which the song was playing and it immediately calmed me as I listened.

Music is a deeply personal art from and I think you can tell a lot about a person from the type of music they listen to. I wanted to share that part of myself with the class, and if you get to listen to the song, I hope you get the same sense of joy and reassurance from it that I do. I'll sum up by saying that I'm thrilled to be a part of this class and am looking forward to acquiring new skills and meeting new people.
