Reading Skills and Strategies

Welcome to this section on reading skills and strategies

Before you learn about the different questions types that you may encounter in the test, it is necessary for you to develop certain reading skills and strategies. These skills and strategies are often overlooked by test candidates when preparing for their test. However, acquiring them will enable you to perform better when answering questions in the test.

.

In this section of the course, you will:

  • learn and practise three reading techniques which will allow you to answer questions more quickly and efficiently,
  • acquire various strategies to guess the meaning of unknown words which you may encounter in the reading passages, and
  • learn how to identify opinions.

It is suggested that you complete the reading skills and strategies lessons in the order presented. However, if you feel you are already proficient in some of these skills, you can choose the lessons that most interest you.
