In my perspective, Active Listening may help to answer correctly, even if we miss the conversation or an answer to a question it is easy to guess the answer by the context. Reading the question and understanding the context may help to predict the answer, but predictions are not always gonna be correct, So better to listen to the audio properly.
general skills
I think transcribing audio files is helpful.
I will focus on the voice and keys words. From that I can guess the answer
I listen carefully first then I can guess answer from the topic of the conversation as well.
