My guess is that it 's because the body wants to try to reclaim the energy / capacity / redundancy that it would normally use for digesting food , to devote to attempting to recover from whatever has caused it that level of distress . Digesting food can be a taxing activity ; the body needs to devote energy and neurological / chemical function to doing so . Hence , if you get rid of the food , digesting it is one task that the body has freed itself from , so it can focus completely on recovery . It was loud simply because of the amount of energy a meteor is carrying . It was probably going at least 25000 mph , maybe several times that . It was heard across a wide area partly because it was high up . Additionally , it happened on a cold night , and the temperature gradient in the air ( colder air nearer the ground ) likely helped bend down sound waves that would have otherwise traveled too far to be heard . There was a study done on shelter dogs - they slept longer and barked less when classical music played , compared to no music . Also , some guys composed music specifically so cats would like it . The same guys did music for monkeys too . Cows produce more milk when music is played consistently at milking time . Elephants can keep a drum beat better than an average person . Also birds . Just , in general . He was one of the first people to mix consumerism into his art . Or in other words , to use things like everyday objects most would consider bland like cheerios , broccoli , etc and express his feelings and ideas artistically . Kind of like when you make macaroni pictures of your mom . You are expressing your love of your mom and the noodles . Usually all table legs are the same length ( I 'm assuming ) and they become unscrewed or the floor is uneven .
